Based in Chino Valley, we service local customers in Prescott, Prescott Valley, and Northern Arizona, as well as gun owners across the nation.

who we are
As the owner and lead gunsmith, I would like to share a little about myself and how the company started. We all have a story, and here are parts of mine.
At a very young age my father introduced me to hunting and the outdoors which sparked my interest and curiosity into firearms. Soon, hunting became a byproduct of my passion for firearms.
Hunting came with a lot of responsibility and my father taught me respect for our first responders, men and women who wear the uniform and all those who carry firearms on their tool belt.
Shortly after graduating high school I enlisted into the US Navy and spent five years working for Uncle Sam. This only fueled my ambition to learn more about the firearm industry. It consumed me so much that I ended up proposing to my now wife at a local gun range!
The next few years I began taking classes and studying the shooting world and the tools they use to be proficient in their tasks. I joined a local sportsman’s club and learned of the joys and benefits of custom guns.
My last enlistment was up in the Navy and it was time for me to choose my career. That is when I found the Yavapai College Gunsmithing program in Prescott, AZ. Being an Arizona native, I did not hesitate to join the three year program.
During the program I began to get involved with some local gunsmiths as well as some competitive shooting. This solidified my passion for the industry, as I began to learn how to produce a reliable product.
As part of the program we learned to build rifles, pistols and shotguns from the ground up. Their functions, operations and ballistics became gospel and I soon learned there is more to a gun than looks. This is when I decided to open my own shop, giving birth to Finks Custom Gunsmithing.
